Today was an epic day! I genuinely found it difficult to set aside 5 minutes to be silent so decided to combine two things. I waited silently while I made some coffee for the team I work with. I found my thoughts heading all over the place and decided to use the technique of focusing on my breathing to structure the 5 minutes. I noticed my in-breath and then as I breathed out I tried to let all the thoughts in my head breathe out too, telling myself that I would deal with them later. Although it was not a particularly comfortable 5 minutes, I did feel a little more composed and peaceful. The act of stopping today was deeply restorative, despite the discomfort. I felt a sense of peace and presence, which was reassuring.
